Privacy & Confidentiality

Confidentiality is maintained as part of the therapy process in accordance with the ethical standards set forth by The Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association. Everything that is discussed with the therapist is kept on the strictest confidence. However, if the client reveals that he/she is going to hurt himself/herself or others, or is planning to commit a criminal offence, the therapist will consider referring the case to the relevant government departments or organisations.

If the client is being treated by their doctor for other conditions, it is important that the client informs their therapist about their doctor and medications, and vice versa. The therapist will not confer with the client’s doctor without the client’s knowledge and permission.

Information collected for the intake form will be held In compliance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance of Hong Kong.
